McIlroy targets Green Jacket
World number one Rory McIlroy has revealed that completing his collection of major titles is his priority for next season.
The Northern Irishman has won the US Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship in his relatively short career as a professional, but has never finished above eighth at the US Masters.
“Green Jacket. I will work hard and make sure I’m ready for that,” Sky Sports reports McIlroy to have said when asked about his priorities for next year.
McIlroy has had the best season of his career so far, winning two majors and five tournaments in total.
The 25-year-old has faced off-course problems in the form of a split from fiancé Caroline Wozniacki and a legal dispute with his former management, but says he is a better player as a result.
“This year has been full of ups and downs, mainly ups, which is a great thing,” he added.
“I learned a lot from it and I feel like I came through this year stronger and wiser, and I can go into 2015 in a much better place.
“I’m happy with the success that I’ve had and I feel like there’s been a lot that I’ve learned this year, as well, and that’s a great thing going into the future.”
McIlroy will compete in the Australian Open this week, before taking an extended break over the Christmas period
